Sam Poh Tong

Among the three cave temples I'm introducing here, Sam Poh Tong is the most famous and developed cave temple. Besides tourists, many Chinese local residents will go there for praying and vegetarian dine.

You can visit the cave temple at Gunung Rapat, just about 5km to the south of Ipoh.

The temple is an impressive work of art and faith, with various statues of Buddha among natural stalactites and stalagmites.

There is also a pond with quite a lot of tortoises (symbol of longevity) where visitors can feed them with stalks of vegetables. Vegetables are sold at the temple for tortoise feeding. There are really big-size tortoises available. It's amazing to see how fierce they can be when fighting for food. Often, I will stand there observing for long regardless time passed.

Further more, a wishing well is also available for those seeking better fortunes.

Finish about the temple? How about outside of the temple?

Just in front of the cave temple, alongside the busy Gopeng Road, there is a roll of stalls selling Perak's most famous fruit - pomelo (a large juicy citrus fruit with two choices of favour ?sweet or sour). A special thing about these stalls is that they all hire pretty and sexy girls as salesperson. I personally was a bit shocked by this recent change of business style.
