The Hakka mee stall at Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah, Ipoh

Whenever someone mention about Hakka Mee, I will think of this place. The stall with 50 years history, located at the Hugh Low Street (Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah) in Ipoh.

It used to be operating at the Yin Yau Kui Restaurant. Since the owner decided to increase the rental, they had shifted to the Paris Restaurant, which is located just opposite to Yin Yau Kui Restaurant.

What is Hakka Mee?

My favorite Hakka Mee!

It’s a type of noodle made by the Hakka people, who are primarily found in southeastern China. It is served with a specially-prepared topping, which contains minced pork and Soya sauce.

This stall is now operating by the Foo brothers, which is the second generation of the business. It was first opened by their late father in 1959.

All this time, it has been featured many times in newspaper, magazine etc.

They prepare the noodle with eggs and flour by themselves. Not only healthier (since no preservative added), it taste firm but not soft too.

Oh yea, remember to eat the noodle together with the special chili sauce mixed with garlic!

Yeung Tau Foo

Besides the noodle, they have another famous Hakka cuisine, which is the Yeung Tau Foo (a type of food where fish paste stuffed in bean curd etc), fish ball and meat ball.

Again, they made it themselves too. Thus, you can only get this delicious food here.

This stall is not only my favorite but my family’s favorite too. My brother will have double servings!

Ever since we shifted to Kuala Lumpur, we will pack a dozen serving of noodle back home. We cannot get anything better than this in Kuala Lumpur.

If you are interested to have a try on this dish, you may call this number (+6016 531 2607) to confirm it is open because they are closed twice in a month (without a fixed date). As for operating hour, it is open from 7.30am to 11.45am.

Last but not least, let's take a look at their price.
